A classroom simulation with no student logins

Informatist is a free business simulation for high school classes with no student accounts — no emails, no rosters, no passwords to reset, and nothing for your district to review.

What we don't collect

Informatist collects no student names, no emails, no accounts, and no persistent identifiers. Students open a link and play; a game is identified only by a random anonymous session key that expires automatically.

This is architecture, not policy: the simulation was built server-side around anonymous sessions, so there is no student record to secure, breach, subpoena, or sell. The privacy policy is short because there is almost nothing to have a policy about.

Why "nothing to approve" matters

Districts accessed an average of 2,982 distinct edtech tools in the 2024–25 school year, up nearly 9% year over year LearnPlatform by Instructure, 2024–25 EdTech Top 40 (as reported 2026).

Every one of those tools with student accounts is a review, a data-privacy agreement, and a password-reset queue. The fastest tool to approve is the one with nothing to approve — which is why "no login" is not a convenience feature here. It is the product decision the whole system is built around.

Chromebooks and filters

Informatist runs in any modern browser on a managed Chromebook: no install, no extension, no SSO, no firewall rule. Allowlist informatist.net and www.informatist.net — nothing else; the site makes no requests to any other domain.

Questions teachers ask

Do students need to create accounts?

No. There is nothing to sign up for. Solo games expire within 24 hours; classroom game rooms within 7 days.

Is it COPPA compliant?

It is designed so the question barely applies: no student personal information is collected in the first place, there is no advertising, and nothing is sold. Details in the privacy policy — written in plain language on purpose.

Do I need a district data privacy agreement?

That's your district's call — but there is no student data for an agreement to govern. The IT one-pager answers the standard review questions on one printable page.

What about the teacher?

Also no account. The only email we ever hold is a teacher's, if they voluntarily join the classroom beta.
